We got their top tips to make planning your Millhouse wedding super easy. Take it away, guys!

Wedding Coordinator

1. When should they begin looking for a wedding venue? Why should they start then?

It’s a very personal choice some couples like to have a build-up and plan it from 1 ½ - 2 years out and other couples’ book & plan their wedding in 6 months. We recommend booking 12 to 18 months prior if you have your heart set on a particular date, your birthday or anniversary or if you want a specific band or photographer. Consider your photographs when choosing your venue, it’s nice to see the seasonal change to the garden and venue - if you book a year in advance you get this opportunity.

2. We don’t want a traditional ceremony, what are our options?

Here at The Millhouse we offer the perfect backdrop for your wedding day. The Millhouse s exclusivity allows your wedding day to be completely personal to you and your partner. You can get married with whatever words, vows and music you want. You choose. Official weddings must have a Registered Solemnisers which are becoming more diverse every year. We also have couples who have that bit sorted already or who want to renew their vows in front of their family and friends.

The Millhouse offers the perfect location for a unique ceremony in either our amazing Old Mill ceremony room or our fabulous riverside orchard. Your use of flowers, décor, candles, balloons, bicycles and even boats enhance what is a beautiful natural setting beside the River Boyne. Your choice of music, words and vows makes for a soulful, intimate experience which is personal and tailored, giving your family and friends a wonderful day to remember and cherish. Wedding ceremony options include; Druid hand fasting, Ring Warming, a Candle, Rose or Sand ceremony, a Spiritual ceremony or even a blessing performed by your best friend – relaxed and tailored to suit your individual style.

3. What makes The Millhouse a unique wedding venue?

The Millhouse is unique in so many ways. Its location on the River Boyne, surrounded by a fairy lit orchard, beside the dramatic historic 17th century mill gives a wonderful natural backdrop, creating a lovely olde worldly dimension to your photos. The industrial buildings, the mill race, the steel fire escape, the woodland, the red brick - all iconic Millhouse photo opportunities.

Our exclusive, one wedding a day policy with private parking gives you and your guests privacy for your special day. The Millhouse becomes your own country house for the day. You can even choose to get ready onsite in our secret private dressing room. The house itself, regardless of its beautiful surroundings, is fabulous with its open-fire drawing rooms, luxurious bedrooms and the glass Orangery opening out to our courtyard, welcoming and homely to say the least.

Lastly our wonderful staff make our house, your home, for your special day. Their dedication to your needs and your guests is second to none. They create a professional yet relaxed experience for your amazing wedding day.
